Absence, Illness and Lates

Our minimum expected attendance is 95%. As an school we monitor all children’s attendance on a regular basis. Full details are available in our Attendance Policy.
We ask all parents and carers to contact the school office by 8.30am each day if a pupil is not going to be at school or will be arriving late. This generally applies to any unplanned absences such as illness or transport issues. The updated timings will ensure we are able to close our registers promptly and carry out our statutory attendance and safeguarding checks.
Is my child too ill for school?
It can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school when they're unwell.
There are government guidelines for schools about managing specific infectious diseases at GOV.UK. These say when children should be kept off school and when they shouldn't.
If your child is well enough to go to school but has an infection that could be passed on, such as a cold sore or head lice, let the school office know.

Individuals can return 48 hours after diarrhoea and vomiting have stopped. This is to prevent infection.
Medical Appointments and Exceptional Circumstances
We require a minimum of 2 weeks notice for any absences, including medical appointments, and that we need to see a copy of the confirmation. This can be the medical appointment letter or text message. We understand that there are occasions when appointments are made last minute in an emergency situation and these situations will be taken in to account. Lateness
Please remember that if your child is late to school, they must come in via the school office with an adult. For Safeguarding reasons, they MUST be signed in on the iPad by the adult.
